Child Protection & Saftey Requirements

Diocese of Baton Rouge Child Protection Requirements and State Requirements are ESSENTIAL for getting all of your adults (over 18) who are participating cleared to attend the pilgrimage.

Safe Environment Requirements for Adults* at the March for Life

*ADULT refers to any participant who is 18 years or older and who is not a high school student.

POLICY: All adults attending the St. Michael Youth March for Life Pilgrimage must be cleared through St. Michael High School. This includes volunteer application, code of ethics, safe and vulnerable population certification, and background check including fingerprinting (must be online at St. Michael).

BY NOVEMBER 6: The names and necessary information for all adults attending must be submitted to SMHS using form tinyurl.com/adultsM4L (this can also be found on the website and in the HUB). St. Michael will check the status of each adult. Our child protection coordinator, Dr. Matus (SMHS Assistant Principal), will make each individual aware of his or her status and necessary steps/links.

 DIOCESE OF BATON ROUGE CHILD PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS: 

1)     Individuals with Child Protection Status COMPLETE should have the following on file at SMHS:

1.       Transfer form if St. Michael is not the primary site

2.       Signature page for Code of Ethics

3.       Copy of driver’s license.

2)     Individuals with Child Protection Status INCOMPLETE should complete these steps through SMHS:

1.       Volunteer Application

2.       Signed Code of Ethics

3.       Serving Vulnerable Populations Certificate

4.       Copy of Driver’s License

3)     Individuals with Fingerprinting NOT ON FILE should:

1.       Complete fingerprinting through Identigo using link sent from M4L office. Do not make appointment except through this specific link.

2.       Fingerprint results will be send directly to SMHS from identigo

3.       Non parish individuals should submit original receipt and address for reimbursement for fingerprints.

4.       Parish/Group individuals should submit original receipt to group leader for reimbursement for fingerprints.

STATE REQUIREMENTS:

1)     Department of Child Protective Services Training – All adult participants will have to show updated  proof of this training. Training must take place yearly.

1.       If an individual completed this training through your parish/school he/she will submit their certificate to St. Michael

2.       St. Michael Child Protection Coordinator will also send a link to complete this form.

3.       The training is good for all locations as long as a certificate is turned in to St. Michael

ALL STEPS ABOVE MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED TO ST. MICHAEL HIGH SCHOOL BY DECEMBER 8!

ALL NECESSARY FORMS AND CERTIFICATES WILL BE EMAILED TO credentials@smhsbr.org
