Child Protection Requirements
This step is ESSENTIAL in getting all of your adults (over 18) who are participating. When it comes to child protection, not following these steps can result in preventing an adult from coming to the event by not submitting Child Protection requirements on time.
ALL CHILD PROTECTION STEPS SHOULD BE COMPLETED DECEMBER 8 DEADLINE
Safe Environment Requirements for Adults* at the March for Life
*ADULT refers to any participant who is 18 years or older and who is not a high school student.

INSTRUCTIONS TO GROUP LEADERS WITH PARTICIPANTS
Please triple check that your participants’ information (EAPPS, Code of Ethics, Safe & Sacred Training) has been correctly entered into the diocesan database. Check with the child protection officer at your church or school to be absolutely certain. In previous years, many group leaders were frustrated to find out that what seemed like minor typos almost kept chaperones from being able to participate in the trip.
If you have questions about someone's status, speak with your child protection officer.
All Child Protection requirements must be completed by December 8. Thanks in advance for being extremely conscientious about these matters.
INSTRUCTION TO INDIVIDUAL ADULT PARTICIPANTS (3 STEPS)
ALL LINKS ARE AVAILABLE AT M4L WEBSITE
A month before the March, any participant who is not a high school student (and/or is 18 years or older) needs to contact the parish or school with which they are associated and request copies of his or her child protection documents. He or she also needs to ask them to double check to ensure that he or she has been properly entered into the Diocesan Child Protection database. If a mistake is made regarding this data entry, he or she may be excluded from the participation in the event for this year.
If you have NOT already gone through the process of becoming certified to work or volunteer for the Catholic Church or need to update some of requirements (Step 3), you need to follow these steps:
STEP 1: VOLUNTEER APPLICATION Adults must go through a background check with your Diocese. That means turning in to your parish or school an "application form" to be a volunteer within the diocese. For the Diocese of Baton Rouge, it can be found on the following website:
DioBR Application Revised 12-12-2011_updated (d2y1pz2y630308.cloudfront.net)
Turn in hard copy to your group leader. DO NOT LEAVE ANY INFORMATION BLANK (years, phone numbers, references, etc.)
STEP 2: TRAINING VIDEO Adults must watch a Child Protection Training. The completion certificate should be turned in to your group leader. This can be found here:
Diocese of Baton Rouge Safe and Sacred Learning Community: Log in to the site (safeenvironment.org)
STEP 3: CODE OF ETHICS (Only needed for some adults who are updating Child Protection)
If this is your first time completing child protection, the Code of Ethics was included in the Training Video. You do not need to complete the form below.
If your Child Protection Officer/Group Leader says you need an updated Code of Ethics click here CODE OF ETHICS Sign and return the last page to your Group Leader.
